Performing spot NDE inspections on large structures can be time consuming and can miss critical defects. The use of Lamb modes is an efficient method of inspecting large, thin structures such as skins. Fibre reinforced composites are used extensively in aerospace applications and exhibit greater complexity with Lamb mode propagation than typical isotropic materials. The 2D models simulate the generation and propagations of Lamb modes through a water loaded plate of steel and fibre reinforced composite.
