Summary of the OnScale Simulation

This example created with OnScale shows the modal displacement of a 7×7 element 1-3 piezocomposite phased array. This analysis is ideal for measuring crosstalk, and evaluating surface dilation quality.

Technical details of the OnScale simulation

We centered the device shown at 1.5MHz, and performed the simulation under free boundary conditions. The centre element is excited with a short voltage pulse, and the surrounding elements a left open circuit. The resulting displacement in the centre element creates lateral waves which propagate throughout the array structure, which can potentially degrade performance. OnScale simulates the strength of these waves, and helps the designer understand how they can be reduced. By performing the simulation in the time domain, OnScale allows you to compare results directly to those from experiments.
