Description

This Master Class is the recommended starting point for learning how to use the OnScale platform. During the 2-day training course, you will develop a strong foundation for your future modeling, simulation, and design optimization work. We start at an introductory level, guiding you through the essential steps for engineering analysis using OnScale: geometry creation, meshing, model setup, post-processing, etc. Then, we move into more advanced topics, such as setting up batch analyses and executing in parallel on Cloud HPC. Finally, we will work through practical examples of OnScale across key application areas like RF filter design, NDE, MEMS, biomedical imaging, and more.

Attendees will receive a combination of hands-on tutorials and practical lectures. The goal is for attendees to become familiar with the OnScale platform for delivering engineering insights in accelerated time-frames. You will learn to be comfortable with the OnScale interface, know how to set-up and execute Cloud CAE simulations, and quickly gather real results to propel your engineering work to a new level.

 

Day 1, 9:00am – 5:00pm

The course begins with a guided introduction to the graphical user interface (GUI) and usage of the software, so that you learn all of the key steps in the modeling workflow: geometry creation, meshing, solving, model verification, and data extraction.
The first day is primarily focused on optimizing your usage of the software and getting you familiar with the new paradigm of Cloud CAE.

Day 2, 9:00am – 5:00pm

The second day builds upon the training from the previous day with more examples and lectures that address:

  • Practical aspects of solving large finite element (FEM) problems
  • Time-domain FEM
  • Finding, understanding, and eliminating errors in the model
  • Balancing accuracy, resolution, and solve time from a practical engineering perspective
  • Fundamentals of design space exploration and optimization
  • Efficient modelling for maximizing user productivity
  • Application examples and hands-on practice
